They are cute, cuddly and utterly vulnerable. Polar bears grab the admiration as well as recognition of individuals the globe over for their fluffy bright coats as well as huggable size. They garner recognition from pet lovers for their searching skill as well as survival strategies in one of the harshest environments on Planet. But regardless of their overwhelming recognition these giants are in threat of being wiped off Earth completely.
The Bear Essential
Polar bears are actually a big varieties that make their homes on the frozen Arctic marine. The bears will certainly spend the majority of their lives on the ice. Males can grow up to ten feet in duration as well as weigh in at over 1,400 pounds! The bears are actually carnivores, meaning they eat the meat of other Arctic pets. At current there are predicted to be actually merely less than 50 thousands polar bears left in the wild. They are actually on the Endangered Species Listing.
When polar bears are on land they are more probably to come face-to-face with a predator, individuals. Frequently people hunt polar bears as trophies as well as more people eradicate polar bears while defending themselves. Individuals more impact polar bears when companies construct facilities in their natural environment, thereby varying it irrevocably.
Interference in the form of government controls to reduce mortal impact has been actually highlighted as a top priority in America as well as other countries. In addition, individual providers as well as interest bunches proceed to lobby and function with the authorities to protect this worthwhile pet in its natural habitat. Aside from government interference, additional investigation pertaining to global warming is critical so that the temperature change can be actually stopped or reversed. There are actually agencies that are raising cash for this remarkably objective. An additional way communities are actually helping the polar bear is to make use of competent bear patrol agents to keep the land bound polar bears from folks as well as to make certain that the bears are actually not contending as well firmly with the individuals for the food resources on land.
Expertise is power. Come to be extra informed concerning this essential subject matter by paying a visit to Polar Bears at World Wild Life.
First, I didn’t know Polar Bears were American. Perhaps they can vote, which would be very helpful because politicians would want to keep them alive. As much as we like the cute fellows, they are really vicious predators. I don’t see anyone staying up all night crying over sabre-tooth tigers, so why should I cry over polar bears?
Due to Global Warming? The animation in An Inconvenient Truth was hilarious. The polar bear was swimming and couldn’t find an ice chunk solid enough to support him. Most people in my class were sad and shocked. Me and my friend laughed our asses off.
Read the story again. Why would Noah pick a polar bear? He was to take two or seven of a kind(species). Since we know the DNA of one species contains the coding for all members of that species, why would he not take say a black bear–they eat berries and other vegetable matter or perhaps they would be young and just drink milk–cow,or goat, or sheep, who knows. The animals were there longer than 40 days. It rained for 40–but they could not get off until they sighted land—hints 150 days later. No to the eating of dinosaurs—, possibly one species of Lizards were gathered, even as eggs, then all the gene pool would be in tact. Seeds for the plants, some housed in the bellies of birds then into poop. Try again, read more closely, not all species of plants and animals had to be housed, some live in water.
Yep. You got it. The two lions, and two tigers on Noah’s Ark ate every single dinosaur on board. I hope your parents didn’t spend too much money on college….
If the polar bears are…? on the brink of extinction….. why cant they simply relocate them to where the penguins are?? or have i missed the point on this one???
seals in the north would get lazy and fat because they wouldn’t have run away from the polar bears. Some childrens cartoons and stories that involve polar bears would be confusing to kids and need extra explanation. I don’t think there would be a really devastating impact on the world, but certainly it would be sad to lose such a majestic creature as the polar bear.
I think the main effect of the extinction of polar bears would be an increase in seal numbers. This in turn would likely lead to a decrease in many fish stocks, which would have a ripple effect across a number of ecosystems. It would be a bad thing!!
If some tribes of eskimo in the high north stilll depend on the polar bear for food and fur, and other essentials, which I doubt there would be that domino effect. i.e. the loss of the polar bear and the loss of a small group of people. But, really think of the extinction of any of God’s creatures as a loss in the great sceme of things, and there have been many. Have you ever seen a firefly? I have, my children did. I learned they used to be in my area until DDT killed them all off. How sorry I was to hear that the funny little lights my children caught on vacations to Tenneessee used to be here in Pend Oreille County. In Washington state. As a reporter for Pend Oreille County to two papers and a magazine I learned of the loss of fireflies in this area from interviewing men and women in their 70′s and 80′s who had been born and raised here.
What are the causes of polar bears getting closer to extinction? Why is it important to understant the issue? I am doing a ecology project in my biology class. We chose a conservation issue to focus on and we are to create a flyer on our issue and present it in front of the class. I am going to choose the topic about polar bears nearing extinction. Any input will help. Thanks!
I know for a fact one reason for their current condition is due to them drowning. With the decline of the polar ice caps many polar bears swim out and they do not have a place to catch their breath. The melting of the ice caps is proportional to the decline in the polar bear habitat.
I will help the polar bears! They’re so cute
